A Beautiful Ghazal by Tehzeeb Hafi
Tehzeeb Hafi, a poet of a fresh style and beautiful expression, was born on 5 December 1989 in Raitra, Tehsil Taunsa Sharif (District Dera Ghazi Khan). After completing Software Engineering from Mehran University, he earned his MA in Urdu from Bahawalpur University, and currently resides in Lahore.
The same innocence, natural simplicity, and purity that appear in Tehzeeb’s outward personality are also reflected in his poetry. Tehzeeb Hafi’s poetry touches the deepest strings of the heart; there is such magic in the structure and tone of his verses that it captivates the senses of both readers and listeners. This clearly explains why he is counted among the most popular poets of the younger generation.
Elevated imagination, deep contemplation, vivid imagery, careful construction of verses, and an almost effortless flow of words are among the key characteristics of his poetry. These very qualities are the reason he is invited to recite his work at every prestigious mushaira.
I have won over it, even though I was defeated
This year I will celebrate the day of birds
I have spoken to the nearby forest
I thought I would never be happy after parting from you
But your separation itself has become a source of joy
In one part of my body, I caused the sun to rise
In the other part of my body, night has fallen
I have left home and started walking toward the forests
How strange — the sadness of home has come along too
The journey back from Madinah will always be remembered
I set out to write a poem, but it turned into a Naat
